7x12=84 (was Her Answer to The Question)
30 September 2019
Just seven times the golden leaves have fallen from the Apple Tree,Where the peaceful river flows ‘neath Okanogan’s distant sky;But standing with you once again, in Neskowin, upon the sea,My joyful heart finds solace now as I recall the years gone by.
From when we met until I pledged my troth to you as evening fellUpon the river’s shoal exposed, in early autumn’s dry embraceIn Twenty-Twelve you stole my heart, I fell apart beneath your spell,And on our Dozenth road trip there was bliss upon your perfect face.
Long before our lives began, before the dawn of time and spaceThe wisdom of Creator God decreed for us a bond of peace –A team united with one mind, that we may find within His graceThe means for love to teach us that as equals all our strife can cease.
Now Four and Eighty months have passed since evening kissed the Methow pines,When poetry, like desert rain, laid bare at last “My innermost heart…”I’ll not forget, my sweetest friend – just where I penned – those timeless lines,Just like on Road Trip Eighty-Four, amid three endless days apart.
So who is she, this woman whose resplendent face outshines the sun,Whose auburn hair and hazel eyes eclipse the beauty of the moon? The thoughtful love within her heart, a work of art which God has done –A testament more brilliant than the stars across the heavens strewn.
“Really?” was the only sound I heard upon your lovely voiceAs agonizing seconds passed, suspended in eternity –I held my breath as time stood still, delayed until you made your choice –And finally, your answer came – you whispered “Yes” to marry me.

And now my heart returns again to our September long agoWhen we were young, and love was new, and romance swept us both away…But though the rain has fallen hard, it hasn’t marred your lovely glow –For with Christ, The Question still rings true, “…Today and every day.”
