J. M. Hageman
My name is John, and I am so blessed to be married to my beautiful bride and best friend, Irene. We have two wonderful sons who bring much joy into our lives. We look forward with much anticipation to the Day in which Jesus will return for His Bride, the Church...for then we will be united with Him forever in Heaven, finally free of the pain and sorrows of this life.
Behind the story...
White Linen first became a concept in late 2015, when our first-born son was only a few months old. I'd always loved poetry, and had written several poems before. Most of these had been written for and dedicated to my lovely wife, Irene. Of these, my favorite was Over the Years... (which I'd written especially for the moment my knee hit the earth when I asked her to be my wife), which we also recited to each other during our wedding ceremony as a supplement to our wedding vows. At the time, it was my masterpiece; I couldn't imagine ever composing anything more meaningful or beautiful.
However, something just didn't seem right.
While I had dedicated only a few poems to my Redeemer, Jesus Christ, I knew He was far more worthy than any tribute I could ever bestow upon my wife.
I love the allegory of the Lamb and His bride (which can be glimpsed in Ephesians 5 and Revelation 19), and how unfathomably beautiful in its depths of grace is the magnitude of God's forgiveness and redemption.
As the idea of White Linen slowly took shape in my mind, the story began to materialize. I truly cannot take any credit for this labor. I was at a loss many times while composing the poetry, but every time I prayed for inspiration, God provided clarity regarding what to write next. White Linen is nothing more than a simple offering to the LORD as I seek to bring glory and attention to the indescribable, unconditional Love He has for us.
It is my hope that the eyes of all who read it would turn to Jesus, because He alone is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one will enter Heaven except through the exclusive yet simple plan of salvation which God offers freely to all who believe, through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ alone.
May it be an encouragement and reminder of the exhilarating Hope awaiting the redeemed in the Name of Jesus Christ our LORD.
