My Lily Among Thorns
14 February 2013
As silver when polished is brighter than rust,And brilliance of stars in the night sky adorns--Like a diamond shines forth from a handful of dust,Your beauty surpasses like a lily among thorns.
By beauty and grace is your body defined,Your curves and your softness, what pleasure indeed! As a lily among thorns, you are one of a kind--He made you alone to fulfill all my need.
The feel of your touch is more precious than light! My heart swells in song like a thousand brass hornsWhen the kiss of your mouth like a swan in her flightRests on my lips, my lily among thorns.
Irene, oh my darling, my truest best friend,I must always be patient like Christ, my heart warns; For time and true love will your wounded heart mend,And you're more than worth it, my lily among thorns.
Your beauty would capture the sight of the blind,And melt the stone heart that is chambered in ice;My lily among thorns, you enrapture my mind--And for you I would offer the ultimate price.
My lily among thorns, please always feel freeTo cry on my shoulder when hardships take hold; For trials will find us, but faith is the keyTo emerge from the furnace as purified gold.
Let us seek Him in faith for the rest of our daysIn Scripture together, His joy our reward--My lily among thorns, let this be our life phrase:“As for me and my house, we’ll serve the LORD.” © J. M. Hageman
